Saturday, August 3rd, 2024

 

11:00 -11:30 – Port Dover Bounce Babes Performance and FREE Demos

Come out and see this unique exercise experience and get a chance to try it out for yourself!

 

11:45-1:30 – Swiftie Song Circle Host: Hannah Dolson

with Amber Banks, Olivia Mae Graham, Mike Matthews & Jess Rayner

Any Taylor Swift fans out there? If so, you’re in for a treat! Taylor Swift has such a massive discography that, at this point, it is worth exploring! Join five local musicians as they stylize Swift’s writing in their own way and delve into her musical history in the process. This event will feature the musical talents of Amber Banks, Hannah Dolson, Olivia Mae Graham, Mike Matthews, and Jess Rayner, who span all different musical genres between the five of them! Who knows what they might come up with, and what collaborative magic might happen! We hope you can join us, whether you’re a Swiftie or not, for a dive into one of pop culture’s biggest musical hits.

1:45-2:15 – Lucas Wilson (Illusionist)

 

2:30-3:30 –  Dan Walsh Slide Guitar Workshop

Join Dan Walsh at the Clifton Park stage where he will host a workshop on the mechanics and techniques of all genres of slide guitar including dobro and lap steel. This workshop will include all aspects of slide including the pros and cons of open tunings versus standard. The 2nd half of the workshop will feature Dan’s organization “Guitars For Kids-Waterloo Region” and what the group does for children that could use a little a help. Guitars For Kids has partnered and worked with The Birdtown Jamboree (Cornstalk) in Haldimand Norfolk. The workshop will discuss the day-to-day operations of GFK as well as explaining how you can help your very own community with this project.

Wake up and get your body moving with Mariela,

who makes the art of Zumba dancing super fun!

 

12:00-1:30 –Songwriters  Round – “Behind The Music” with Nolan Gibson (Host)

and Jocelyn June, Emma Whale, & Tyler Wilson

Take a journey with our eclectic mix of songwriters as they take you behind the curtains, unveiling their songwriting process and heartfelt stories. Watch as each artist takes turns performing their original works, laughing, commiserating, and growing together as songwriters along the way!

 

1:45-3:00 – Badunkafunk – “How to Write a Song…Fast!’ with Craig Watkins of Badunkafunk

Come out and see the artist known as Badunkafunk take suggestions from the audience and write a song on the spot…that he will perform in his Main Stage set at 5:30pm!

 

3:15-3:45 – The North Shore Highlanders

The North Shore Highlanders pipes and drums are a Port Dover community band started by long time friends of 25+ years Ian & Bev McFadden and Amber & Murray McKnight who collectively have a colourful and extensive history in Pipe Bands. Their goal is to give the people of Port Dover and surrounding areas, particularly the youth, a unique opportunity to learn andappreciate the craft of piping and drumming. Their goal is to see our members developconfidence, integrity, and dedication as they advance their skills. The band promotes the art ofhighland music and its heritage through performances in our community for the benefit of ourmembers, community initiatives and our veterans. The North Shore Highlanders are providing astructured environment that eduates and displays the utmost in respect for the values andcommitments that define the Port Dover Legion #158.

The band practices every Tuesday at 6:30pm and are looking to recruit new members in the fall. A calendar of practice locations, events, and tons of other fun pipe band content can be found in our Facebook group “North Shore Highlanders” and our Instagram page

3:45-5:00 – Songwriters Round:

“Two Guys, Two Guitars, Their Favourite Music”

with Chad Everett Brown & Shawn Santalucia

Watch as these two seasoned performers come together for the first time,

sharing the music they love and the stories behind the songs!

 

 

Monday August 5th, 2024 – “Youth Day”

 

11:00-12:00 – Kids and Parents FREE Zumba Class with Mariela Lagace

Come out and get your groove on with Mariela! This class will be focused on getting families moving and grooving together! FREE!

 

12:00-1:00pm – Simcoe & District Humane Society Pet Contest

Sign up over the weekend at the Humane Society booth in the KidsZone!  Their will be prizes!

 

1:00-1:45 - The Holy Trinity Jazz Ensemble

Under the direction of Music Director Jeff Webster, the students from the HT Jazz Ensemble will delight audiences young and old with contemporary and standard Jazz faveourites!

 

2:00-3:30 – Local Youth Talent Showcase

Hosted by Boon’s Music Studio & Young Theatre Players

A cornucopia of talent from a large roster of youth performers! Be prepared to be amazed!
